How to Use Computer Science Student Skills to Get a Job

Before I go into teaching computer science, I first want to talk about what a curriculum vitae should not include. A curriculum vitae is a letter of intent or resume. It is usually required when you are applying for a teaching job. Curriculum Vitae should be no more than one page in length and it should be sent via regular mail. If the school has a website, then the curriculum vitae can also be uploaded to their website.

So, let’s talk about how to write a curriculum vitae. A curriculum vitae should have four major parts. They should give your name, address, phone number, and employment history. At the very end of the curriculum vitae, you should list three things that will help you in achieving your goals as a computer science student.

The first thing you should do as a student is to get a good program design portfolio. There are many websites on the internet that will host portfolios for students to view. This will give you an opportunity to see your work up close and in person. The most important part of your portfolio though is the listing of your programs. You want to do a good job of listing your computer related degrees or certifications with the names of the institutions that you earned your degrees from. Remember that employers are looking for computer science degree holders so list your programs where they will see it.

Next, it is important to list all of your computer science related honors and awards. These should be listed in chronological order with your award from the year that you received it. List all your computer science programs that you have completed as well. This will give you an extra boost when you apply for jobs.

Now that you have your portfolio and your list of programs, it is time to create your own resume. You can do this either online or in person at a computer design school. Your resume will need to include things like your name, address, phone number and credentials. Make sure to list all of your computer-related degrees or certifications. This will help to prove that you are a qualified computer program designer.

Your cover letter should be short and sweet. It will provide information on what type of position you are seeking and why you want the job. If you are still in school, include any highlights you have received during your studies. You will also want to include information about your interest in the particular field. For example, if you are a graphic designer, you may want to mention that you have done graphic design work in the past.

Always have contact information available. You never know when an employer is going to contact you through an electronic message or by email. If it is not feasible to have access to an email or cell phone, you will want to have as much contact information as possible. Having a PDA or laptop computer will allow you to stay in touch with your current employers and will show potential employers that you are organized and efficient.

Computers can be used in so many different ways today. There are entire industries that revolve around using information technology. You might be able to use one of these careers as a way to continue your education. If you do not get more have the necessary skills currently, it may still be possible to earn a certificate in computer science. By learning more about computers and technology, you will be ready for the many rewarding careers that are available in this industry.
